TOOLS — SOLIDWORKS, Keyshot
DURATION — Mini Project
01 — THE PROBLEM
Filming a dive means holding a camera, framing shots and watching a screen, all while managing buoyancy, air and a buddy. Most recreational divers either skip recording or come home with clips of the reef in front of them, never of themselves in it. tether rethinks the follow drone as a self-contained object built for the water.
02 — ANATOMY
Front — camera, lights, readout
Rear — power button, charge gauge
03 — HOW IT WORKS
SEE
Visual tracking
Radio signals fade quickly underwater, so tether follows by sight. The camera keeps the diver in frame and holds a set distance as they swim.
SIGNAL
Customizable hand signals
Divers already talk with their hands. tether can be programmed to recognize familiar signals and map each one to an action.
CONFIRM
Readout responds
Every action appears on the front low power readout, so the diver always knows the drone understood.
04 — FORM & MATERIALS
Most underwater gear looks rugged and technical. tether is meant for recreational divers, so its soft cylindrical pods and warm stone finish read more like a premium consumer object than a tool.
POWER — Swappable battery, cable-free
PROPULSION — Twin thrusters, 360° rotation
TRACKING — Camera-based, visual only
CONTROL — Programmable hand signals
